The Hartford Care Response Team (HCRT) was established in 2004 as Connecticut's first Hospital-Linked Violence Intervention Program (HVIP) and member of the Health Alliance for Violence Intervention (The HAVI). Our Intervention Specialists and Case Managers are nationally certified Violence Prevention Professionals (VPP's) who provide 24/7 365 response services to meet the needs of crime victims. Whether bedside at the hospital, within schools, homes or in the community, the HCRT meets victims and families where they are to offer trauma-informed services and resources that encourage healing from traumatic events. We help victims stabilize their lives, navigate the criminal justice system, and restore safety and security in their homes. Within 24 hours of receiving a referral or walk-in, our case management team follows up with the client. We connect them to services they may need, such as therapy, legal services, housing, food, transportation, employment, training, and follow-up medical care.
