Workforce and Career Readiness Program (WCRP)
Hartford Communities That Care, Inc. (HCTC) Workforce and Career Readiness Program (WCRP) is a comprehensive initiative aimed at empowering youth and young adults aged 18-35 with valuable skills and career opportunities to become trained Violence Intervention Specialists (VIS), Youth Engagement Specialist (YES), or through a partnership with Code One Training Solution LLC; Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT).
The HCTC Workforce and Career Readiness Program represents a proactive approach to addressing workforce development needs while also addressing critical community issues. By providing training, mentorship, and career opportunities, the program aims to empower participants to become skilled professionals and agents of change in their communities.

You must be 18-35 years old. You must have a high school diploma or GED. You must be a City of Hartford resident. You must meet all the eligibility requirements, complete the mandatory forms, be determined to succeed and show a commitment to the HCTC Workforce and Career Readiness Program.

Violence Intervention Specialist
Coursework emphasizes community violence prevention, intervention treatment and recovery strategies. Most of the training will be in a classroom setting and at selected worksites with skilled Certified Violence Prevention Professionals as mentors.
Youth Engagement Specialist
Coursework focuses on addressing the specific needs of adolescents and recognizing risky behaviors for early intervention and prevention efforts. Most of the training will be in a classroom setting and at selected worksites within the school district with skilled Certified Violence Prevention Professionals as mentors.
Emergency Medical Technicians
Coursework emphasizes emergency skills, such as managing respiratory, trauma, and cardiac emergencies, and patient assessment. Coursework also includes clinical time which gets you out of the classroom and into an ambulance working hands on with a Certified EMT.
All courses include paid training, certifications, and on-the-job work experience.
